Maintenance of Railway Sleeper Plates

Maintenance

1. Regular inspection and evaluation
Periodic inspection: The sleeper board is inspected regularly to detect any potential damage, wear or loosening. The inspection should cover the overall condition of the sleeper plate, the connection to the rail and the condition of the ballast (ballast bed) below.
Evaluation status: Based on the results of the inspection, the condition of the sleeper plate is assessed to determine whether repair or replacement measures are necessary. The age of the sleeper plate, the degree of damage and the impact on the overall stability of the track should be considered in the evaluation.
2. Maintenance and replacement
Maintenance measures: For slightly damaged sleeper plates, maintenance measures can be taken, such as strengthening connections, repairing cracks or replacing damaged parts. During maintenance, we should ensure that the materials and processes used meet the relevant standards to ensure the quality of maintenance.
Replace the sleeper board: When the sleeper board is seriously damaged or cannot be repaired, it should be replaced in time. The replacement should be carried out in accordance with the prescribed procedures and standards to ensure that the size, material and performance of the new sleeper board match the original sleeper board.
3. Cleaning and anti-corrosion
Cleaning: Regularly clean the dirt, dust and debris on the surface of the sleeper board to keep it clean. Use appropriate cleaning agents and tools to avoid damage to the sleeper board.
Anti-corrosion treatment: For wooden sleeper board, anti-corrosion treatment should be carried out to extend its service life. The antiseptic treatment can be carried out by applying preservative, dipping or pressure injection. For concrete or synthetic material sleeper board, although its own corrosion resistance is better, but also should be regularly checked and take the necessary anti-corrosion measures.
4. Tighten and adjust
Fastening connection: Ensure that the connection between the sleeper plate and the rail is tight and reliable to prevent the track from being unstable due to loosening. Periodically check and tighten connection bolts, fasteners and other components.
Adjust the gauge: Adjust the gauge as needed to ensure that the geometry of the track meets the specified standards. When adjusting, professional measuring tools and adjustment methods should be used to ensure the adjustment accuracy.
5. Drain and prevent moisture
Drainage system: Keep the drainage system under the track unimpeded to prevent water damage to the sleeper board. Regularly check drainage facilities such as drains and drainpipes, and clean up blockages in time.
Moisture-proof measures: For the sleeper board that is susceptible to moisture (such as wooden sleeper board), moisture-proof measures should be taken, such as setting a moisture-proof layer and using waterproof material to cover it, so as to reduce the impact of humidity on it.
