Rail Joints For Light Rail

This is the most common type of rail joint, where two sections of rail are tightly joined together by a Fish Plate and bolts. The joint is simple in structure and easy to install, and is suitable for most light rail lines.

In sections of light rail where electrical isolation is required, insulated joints are used. This joint embeds insulation in the fishplate to prevent current from passing through the track, protecting the signaling system and associated equipment from interference.

In order to reduce the vibration and noise caused by trains passing through, some light rail lines use elastic joints. The joint is specially designed to absorb part of the vibration energy and improve passenger comfort.

Although seamless joints are more common in high-speed and heavy-haul rail, some advanced light rail systems are also beginning to experiment with seamless joint technology to improve track smoothness and train operation efficiency.
