Use

Track installation requires a pad or bottom plate because they not only support the track, but also hold the entire fastening system in place. The rail pad is the topmost component of the crane rail or rail support system. The main function of the backing plate or baseplate is to provide a flat, smooth supporting surface for the track while allowing the track system to be aligned vertically. The pad is held in place by an anchor bolt (also called a compression bolt). The bottom plate is usually installed with a layer of grout cast under it to fill the gap between the bottom plate and the concrete foundation.

The holes for holding the anchor bolt and leveling the bolt and the holes for threading the bolt through the clamp are precisely drilled into the bottom plate. For weldable clamps and base clamps, the bottom of the clamps is soldered to the base plate before galvanizing.
