Steel tie plates are the parts used to connect rail and sleeper in the railway track structure, and the rail is fixed on the rail pillow through fasteners (such as spikes, spring fasteners, etc.) to ensure the stability and safety of the railway track.
Steel plate is divided into two grades:
Level 1: Low carbon steel pad.
Grade 2: high carbon hot working steel plate.
Structural characteristics
Double Shoulder design
There are two "ridges" on both sides of the steel plate where the rail base contacts. This design can prevent the rail from moving sideways.
Line Holes
Holes at the edge of the base of the rail, used to secure the rail to the steel pad, and in turn to secure the steel pad to the rail sleeper.
Hold-Down Holes
Parts of the steel plate that are located away from the rail base and do not allow the spike to touch the edge of the rail base, also known as anchor holes or anchor holes. Their main function is to fix the steel backing plate more firmly on the rail pillow.
