The rail shoulder is a preset part in the concrete sleeper. The cast shoulder is made of iron and embedded in the concrete sleeper. It is used to fix the rail with an elastic clamp. Either single-post or double-post, used to secure the spring bar (mainly the E-type spring bar) in the fastener system.
Tips
The weld on shoulder fastening makes the fabrication of rail retaining units on both steel sleepers and steel base plates possible when the E style of elastic rail clips are used for the fasting of the rail.
Even though the rail cast in shoulder are usually pressed in the concrete sleeper, it also can be welded on to longer length steel sleeper sections or bearers for use in the fabrication of switch and crossing layouts where vertical rail geometry is employed.
