Proper Installation of Rail Fastening Systems
Correct installation ensures track stability and longevity. Key steps vary by system type but follow core principles.
Pre-Installation Checks
Verify rail type (flat-bottomed, grooved) and sleeper material (concrete, wood).
Ensure components (clips, pads, plates) meet specifications .
Installation Process
Baseplate Alignment: Position baseplates on sleepers with tolerance <2mm deviation.
Rail Placement: Secure rails onto baseplates using temporary clamps.
Clip Fastening:
For Pandrol E-Clips: Use hydraulic press or manual lever to snap clips into shoulders.
For Nabla Springs: Insert W-clips with tension ≥9 kN.
Torque Control: Tighten bolts to manufacturer specs.
Tools Required:
Torque wrenches, clip applicators, laser alignment tools.
Common Mistakes:
Over-tightening clips (causes stress fractures).
Misaligned baseplates (leads to gauge widening).
