Main material technical parameters of cast railway shoulder

Cast railway shoulders (also known as railway shoulder, rail edge) are usually part of the rail and are made of high-quality steel. In railway engineering, the rail is the main bearing component laid on the track, and the rail shoulder (flange) of the rail is the key part that contacts with the wheel and transfers the load.
The main material for casting railway shoulders is cast iron. Its technical parameters are as follows:

Material: cast iron (gray cast iron, ductile cast iron, etc.);
Tensile strength: gray cast iron is usually about 150MPa, ductile cast iron can reach more than 400MPa;
Yield strength: gray cast iron is usually about 200MPa, ductile cast iron can reach more than 300MPa;
Elongation: gray cast iron is usually about 1%, ductile cast iron can reach more than 18%;
Hardness: gray cast iron is usually 170-230HB, ductile cast iron can reach 200-300HB;
Density: The density of cast iron is usually 6.9-7.8g/cm³.
