Rail
The rail is the main component of the railway system and is secured to the sleeper (or tie) by a fastening device. These fastening devices usually include fasteners, bolts, nuts, etc., which together ensure the stable position of the rail on the track.

Sleeper
Sleeper is the part that supports the rail and distributes the load of the rail, usually made of wood, concrete, or other synthetic materials. The sleeper also needs to be fixed to the roadbed by a fastening device to keep its position stable.

Other components

Types and characteristics
Depending on the type and structure of the fasteners, railway fastening systems can be divided into many types
Shrapnel fastening system
Using the elasticity of the shrapnel to fix the rail on the rail pillow, it has the advantages of simple structure and convenient installation.
Fastener system
clamp the rail to the rail pillow through the fastener, with greater clamping force and stability.
Spring bar fastening system
The elastic deformation of the spring bar is used to fix the rail on the rail pillow, which has the advantages of strong adaptability and convenient adjustment.
Spike fastening system
Usually the iron plate is fixed to the sleeper with spikes, and then the rail is fixed with elastic strips or gusset plates. This kind of system is more traditional, but it still has application value in some special situations.
